One Response to My Favourite Book

Hello Elizabeth. A difficult question to answer. I might be able to come up with a favourite poem or at least a short list of favourite poems, but a favourite novel is difficult. If I go back a long way to think of something from my childhood that really had an impact on me, Jane Eyre will always shine out. The only novel that stands out for me in more recent years is Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates.

As I have a 7 year old daughter I find myself reliving my childhood as I read to her at bed time which has been wonderful and has also meant that I have read books that I managed to miss as a child one being Roald Dahl’s The Witches. I do think that The Witches is really very special and I was touched very much by the relationship between the boy and his grandmother, so I will choose it as my current favourite.

I will read Possession and thank you for that recommendation. Best Wishes. Rebecca
